Venture Capital Deal Volumes Up 12% Most Canadian Deals Since 2005

2014 was the best year for Canadian venture capital financing in over a decade
According to data recently released by Thomson Reuters, Canadian companies received over $2.36 billion in 2014, a 21% increase from 2013, and nearly doubling the $1.2 billion invested just five years ago in 2000. During the year, Canadian companies received 522 rounds of financing, up 12% from the 468 financing in 2013 and resulting in the most Canadian venture capital deals completed since 2005.
In this environment, we are seeing is a new class of maturing businesses reaching the stage where their growing market opportunity is now being matched by growing external investments.
