Infrastructure

Kensington has a long history of project financing and advisory work in the power sector over the last 20 years. In 2012 Kensington established the first power income fund to make private investments in power infrastructure assets across North America.

Kensington Power Income Funds seek to make investments in power generation transmission and distribution assets which demonstrate sustainable and predictable cash flows with attractive supply and demand dynamics. Long term cash flow generation creates attractive risk adjusted returns for our investors.

Investment Strategy

Investment Strategy

Kensington looks to leverage its network across North America to originate and acquire high quality, long term, operating power infrastructure businesses across hydro, heat recovery, natural gas, geothermal and energy storage solar as well as transmission lines and power distribution infrastructure.

Opportunity and scale

Opportunity and scale

Kensington seeks to originate and participate in opportunities that would be smaller than the threshold enterprise value of a typical institutional investor. In eliminating competition from institutional investors Kensington is able to access quality power infrastructure assets at a lower cost, enhancing yields for our investors.

Partnership pipeline platform

Partnership pipeline platform

Kensington seeks to develop partnerships with power infrastructure developers as a means to develop exclusive pipeline opportunities for investment by our funds once the assets are commissioned. We believe that working in partnership with developers creates a strong alignment of interest and generates quality investment opportunities.

Technical expertise

One of Kensington’s first power investments is a waste heat plant located in Crowsnest Pass, British Columbia which is wholly owned and operated by our funds. Kensington has uniquely developed operating, engineering and technical expertise in the day to day management of physical power assets.
