Kensington is introducing a large scale infrastructure investment program designed to meet the needs of institutional investors, anchored by the Kensington Power Income Fund and including direct co-investment and other individual project opportunities for investors. Kensington maintains an active Advisory business in the infrastructure sector leading to very high quality deal flow for our Fund and our investors.
Kensington partners with capable and knowledgeable development and operational partners in the target infrastructure subsectors that act as a lead developer and provide ongoing technical and operations and management services. In all of these arrangements, Kensington ensures that effective mechanisms are in place to ensure a strong alignment of interests.
The core concept is to make direct investments in infrastructure projects as a consortium, consisting of the Kensington Fund and its investors co-investing directly alongside the Fund.
Kensington has direct investment opportunities in thermal power, hydro power, public service centres and urban transit all under review. The total equity capital required for these projects exceeds $2 billion with expected investor returns in the range of 10% to 12%.
