As of February 1, 2016, the Kensington Hedge Fund 1 (KHF1) team will be pleased to welcome a new manager into their multi manager portfolio, Lumen Asset Management. KHF1 will invest in Lumen’s flagship fund, the Lumen Long/Short Equity Fund. Originating out of Obelysk Funds Limited, which traded a long/short equity portfolio for John Bitove’s family office, Lumen Asset Management is head up by Timothy Shiu former founder and portfolio manager of Picton Mahoney Asset Management. During his tenure at Picton Mahoney, Timothy won several Morningstar awards, and his Flagship Market Neutral Fund never had a down year during his management (including 2008).

During its two years of operations, Obelysk experienced strong investment performance, and in 2015 decided they would take on external funds and change the name to Lumen starting in 2016. Kensington’s investment team has been in discussions with the investment team since mid-2015, and is excited to welcome Lumen to their roster of investment managers. For more information please feel free to reach out to the Kensington team.
